Can you repair the cable the same day you find the fault?
Yes, that is the standard outcome. Is it worth replacing just the connectors, or does the whole cable need to go?
It depends on what the meter says. Corroded connectors on healthy cable are a quick, inexpensive fix — we renew the fittings and the margin comes straight back. If the readings show loss along the cable itself, the copper or braid has degraded and new connectors will not save it. We test first and quote only for the level of repair the measurements justify.
Will my dish, LNB and decoder be reused after a re-cable?
Almost always. Cable repairs and re-runs do not require touching the dish or decoder, and a healthy LNB stays exactly where it is — we simply terminate the new cable onto it with a fresh, sealed connector. If our testing happens to reveal a second fault elsewhere in the chain, we tell you about it separately rather than folding it silently into the job.
How long should a properly installed cable run last?
Installed with quality coax, compression fittings, sensible routing and protection from direct sun, a run should serve well beyond a decade without measurable degradation. That longevity is why we refuse to patch with tape or reuse tired fittings. Is there a cheaper option than a full re-run if my budget is tight?
Often, yes. Where only one section has failed, a partial replacement restores the margin at a fraction of a full re-run, and we will tell you honestly if that is your situation.
