The classic pattern is gradual: weather affects the picture more than it used to, and decoder signal readings have slipped from their old levels. A sudden drop right after wind or roof work also points at alignment. But cable and LNB faults mimic the same symptoms, which is why we meter the whole chain during the visit rather than assuming — you pay to fix the real fault.
Can you align the dish in one visit, and how long does it take?
Yes. A straightforward re-alignment with a sound mount typically takes under an hour, including meter verification across multiple transponders and a channel check inside. If we find loose or corroded mounting hardware, correcting that adds a little time, and any parts are quoted upfront. Same-day booking is standard across our Gauteng coverage.
Will the alignment hold through the next storm?
It should, and that is precisely why we check the mounting as part of every alignment. A dish only moves if its clamps, mast or bracket allow it to. My signal dropped after the painters re-fitted the dish. Whose problem is it?

If the reflector is warped, badly corroded or the mount is failing, alignment gains little and we will say so, showing you the physical evidence and quoting a replacement as a separate fixed price for you to decide on.
Do you check anything besides the dish angle?
Always. LNB skew is part of a correct alignment and is often ignored, and we verify the readings at the decoder end too, so a hidden cable fault cannot quietly eat the margin we just gained.
